Baby Quilt

I've made many, many baby quilts for family and friends. I just couldn't get it together to make one for my grandson who is due on April 28 - so I found this adorable quilt on line and the story I'm sticking to is this is exactly what I would have made had I made it. I will eventually get around to making a quilt for him - it's tough to start sewing after an eight year break.
Oh, Cat if you are reading this Sunday morning would be a perfect time for Jack to be born!
Lafayette Square

Here are my impressions of Lafayette Square http://www.nps.gov/nr/travel/wash/Dc30.htm from today's lunchtime stroll in no particular order: tour buses, ducks, teenagers, blue jay, bees, trees, cameras, chess game, summer dresses, smell of french fries, orange base ball caps, protesters, cool breeze, cigar smoke, video cameras, police on bikes, helicopters, seeing eye dog, fountains, shorts, fading tulips and a personal trainer with a group of miserable looking recruits.
I went to take a photo of my favorite tree to show you. It is highly favored by squirrels in the summer and has the most character.

Happy Easter

The black background on by blog is now an updated spring GREEN! Happy Easter to all.
My husband just picked up my chocolate torte birthday cake from the Heidelburg bakery and had to try and explain to the one of the German ladies why the cake says Happy Birthday Shmoopia. It's just a joke between us from a Seinfeld episode http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mii8aJklEOg

Doilies Doll

I finally used one of the hand dyed doilies from Judy's Artistic Artifacts shop. She loves to dye just about anything she can find. The colors are amazing. Check out her blog here: http://www.artisticartifacts.com/blog/ and her online shop here: http://www.artisticartifacts.com/ for some unique items for mixed media and fabric artists.

Rusty lace experiment

I need a rusty skirt for one of my dolls. So last night I put a solution of 50% water and 50% white vinegar on the lace and placed the lace and some rusty items in a plastic container. In the morning I could already see green and some rust on the lace. I left it out in the sun today. I can't wait to see what it looks like tonight. I will rinse it in salt water to stop the rust and then in plain water. Here are the results - a success!

My NEW Scooter
The scooter I bought last year was just a little big for me so my husband surprised me (for my birthday) and traded it in on a much smaller scooter. I took it for a spin around town today, it's very easy to drive. All that practice in the parking lot last year really paid off. The top speed is around 40. Just right for putting around town. Of course, my husband got on his scooter and rode behind me to make sure I was safe.
