History of German Dolls

Elizabeth Parsons also loves German doll parts and has some wonderful creations on her blog http://allthingspaper.blogspot.com/ website http://www.allthingspaper.com/ and etsy shop http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=21283772&ref=em. Take a look at the history of these amazing dolls here: http://allthingspaper.blogspot.com/2008/11/rescued-german-dolls-and-doll-parts.html

Here is a quote from Elizabeth's blog, "I love the story behind them - in the late 1800's and early 1900's there were many German doll factories. When making the dolls in molds, there were always rejects. These rejects were tossed into a large wood bin. When the bin got full, a worker would take them outside and bury them as a way to get rid of them. They would return the empty bin and keep filling it- over and over again, over many years. Fast forward to now- the old abandoned doll factories are being explored by the locals and they are finding the doll parts."

I just love the dirt, rust and imperfections and can't wait to make more dolls.

Bulletin boards

I have lots of bulletin and design boards where I place my work, gifts and items that inspire me. It's getting hard to work again because I never put anything away.

Doll Delivery

I delivered a doll to Judy (this is the largest one I've made) and did some shopping at her store Artistic Artifacts http://www.artisticartifacts.com/ - I got some beautiful hand dyed items for new doll dresses!

Then on to Borders bookstore to spend a 40% coupon and have some Earl Grey tea and a warmed up oatmeal raisin cranberry cookie. It was amazing - always let them warm cookies up for you!
