Honfest 2008

This amazing flamingo (click on the photo to see a really BIG flamingo) is at the Cafe Hon in Hampden, Baltimore. In a few weeks there will be a Hon festival http://www.honfest.net/ where folks dress up - check it out. We plan on attending and taking tons of photographs.

Paint Technique

Johnna demonstrated a painting technique (to the mixed media club) where you build layers of paint then scrape them away to reveal the layers underneath.

The class had a great time experimenting with the paint.

Altered Book Round Robin

I'm taking a class on Altered books. This is my first experience with altered books. We are learning a few techniques each class then we are using them to create our pages. Everyone selects a theme, mine is Earth, Wind, Fire and Water. We learned about glazing and transfer techniques in the first class. The next class we will all switch books, learn new techniques and use those techniques to create pages in someone's elses book using their theme. So at the end of the class you have lots of techniques and lots of artists work. Here are some pictures of the cover, sign in page and the first spread I did on Water.

Red, White and Blue

I created 25 red, white and blue keychains for Theresa's shop http://www.stifelandcapra.com/. They are going to be open Memorial Day and I thought that the folks attending the Memorial Day Celebration in Falls Church would like them. It was fun wire wrapping the hearts!
